Since the implementation of the Blueprint to End Homelessness, it appears that the total number of people experiencing homelessness in our community has declined by half. However, the number is now holding steady and may increase with rising unemployment, evictions and home foreclosures.

Three significant challenges facing the commitment to end homelessness in our area include the lack of affordable housing for individuals and families, the lack of funding for supportive services, and the establishment of an engagement center to work with people who are publicly intoxicated and without a home. Resolving these challenges requires a stronger community investment of human and financial resources.

You can help support CHIP and our community partners in providing coordinated homeless services, hope, and assistance to our neighbors in need.
