Human Trafficking: Brown Bag
February 8 : 11:30am - 1pm

Please join us on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at 11:30. February's featured speaker is Abigail Kuzma, Director and Chief Counsel of the Consumer Protection Division with the Indiana Attorney General's office. Ms. Kuzma will be speaking on the topic of Human Trafficking.

Prior to joining the attorney general's office, Kuzma co-founded and was the executive director of the Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic. Prostitution is not a victimless crime," Deputy Attorney General Kuzma says, adding: "Many children, both U.S. citizen and immigrant, are used in commercial sex. In fact, 12 to 14 is the average age entry into this horrific life. As a former attorney for immigrant victims of human trafficking, I know first-hand that many of these vulnerable individuals are physically forced, coerced, raped or beaten by their traffickers. Our goals on the state level include holding these criminals accountable, mobilizing communities to care for victims and raising public awareness while reducing the demand for commercial sex that fuels human trafficking. It's also important for local community groups - especially those in Indianapolis - to show their support for anti-human trafficking efforts and help spread awareness about these types of crimes in their neighborhoods."
