Indy Homeless Connect

The sixth annual Indy Homeless Connect took place on April 13, 2011, from 9am - 4pm at the Indiana Convention Center. The event, made possible by over 50 service providers, municipal agencies, and the City of Indianapolis, offered much needed services, support and care to 1,035 homeless individuals, including almost 100 children under the age of five, from the Indianapolis area.
At this year's event, homeless neighbors were be able to access an array of services including housing, employment, benefits and identification, legal aid, mental health, acute medical care, and dental and vision screenings. In addition to these vital services, there were extra “add-on” services available including: haircuts, massages, free phone calls to friends and family, email access, free book distribution, lunch, a take-a-way bag with hygiene items, and a Spiritual Garden for meditation or prayer.
Indy Homeless Connect was successful in helping many of our neighbors to link with needed services with the help of 675 volunteers. Thank you to all the volunteers who have participated in all six Indy Homeless Connect events.
