Englewood Christian Church
Englewood Christian Church has been on the Near Eastside of Indy since 1895. Over the years, our members have seen many changes in our beloved neighborhood. About 12 years ago, we made a significant shift in the way we responded to the struggles of our own members as well as the struggles of our neighbors. The most visible expression of this shift was the creation of Englewood Community Development Corporation (ECDC). ECDC has been a marvelous tool for our church to provide affordable housing (ownership, rental and transitional), employment, financial services and partner with many of our neighbors working toward neighborhood redevelopment. We have witnessed over and over the power of God working through the willingness of people reaching out in love to bear the burden of others. Sometimes this has meant walking with those who are homeless; sometimes it has meant preventing homelessness; always it has meant learning how much we all need one another. We are grateful for our continuing partnership with CHIP and many other community partners as we all learn the depth of “love your neighbor as you love yourself”.
