We have asked our partners from the past 20 years to answer this question: What has CHIP meant to you? We will periodically add to this list responses from at least 20 of our partners.
What has CHIP meant to you?
- “Trusted Mentors was started as an initiative of CHIP in support of the 1st Blueprint to End Homelessness. That document calls for an ‘increase in the use of volunteers and mentors to strengthen the support network for homeless families and individuals.’ I was hired on contract in 2003 to initiate a mentoring program. Originally known as Trusted Partners, the program grew into an independent agency in 2008. Volunteer mentors, trained and supported through Trusted Mentors, have helped hundreds of people remained housed. CHIP has remained supportive of our efforts, providing access to TIF funds that have assisted with long term planning and on-going mentor training. In 2015, we managed 191 mentoring relationships with 92% remaining housed while in contact with their mentors.” – Jeri Warner, Trusted Mentors
