HMIS

The Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) is an electronic data collection system that stores longitudinal personal level information about persons who access the homeless services system in a Continuum of Care (CoC). HMIS is a valuable resource because of its capacity to integrate and unduplicate data from all homeless assistance and homelessness prevention programs in a CoC. Because of the advanced nature of Indianapolis’s HMIS application, organizations are able to improve case management by collecting information about client needs, goals and service outcomes.
CHIP administers this web-based data collection system on behalf of the Indianapolis Continuum of Care using the software ClientTrack.NET. The data collection process captures system-wide information about the characteristics and service needs of individuals experiencing homelessness. The data is used to inform community planning, improve coordination of services, support advocacy efforts, and enhance funding requests.
