HMIS stands for Homelessness Management Information System. HMIS describes a class of databases that meet requirements set forth by HUD (the Department of Housing and Urban Development) to track and manage client-level data in a standardized way across all CoCs receiving federal funding. There are several different HMIS software options.
The Indianapolis CoC uses a software platform called ClientTrack from a company called Eccovia. ClientTrack and HMIS are used interchangeably in conversations among providers, and they refer to the specific ClientTrack software we all use.
