Homeless Management Information System
WE GATHER AND MANAGE OUR COMMUNITY'S DATA ON HOMELESSNESS.
The Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) is a computerized data collection tool and database. HMIS is specifically designed to capture client-level, system-wide information over time on the characteristics and services needs of men, women, and children experiencing homelessness.
By managing HMIS, CHIP knows what homelessness looks like in Indianapolis at a bird's eye view. We use HMIS data to inform planning activities, measure performance, and track the demographics and service needs of individuals experiencing homelessness to improve our system of care.
CHIP is the HMIS Lead for the Indianapolis Continuum of Care (CoC). CHIP provides technical support and trainings to HMIS users, completes system-level regulatory activities, and supports agencies in completing regulatory activities. CHIP also provides aggregate reports at both system-wide and agency-specific levels. Lastly, CHIP oversees system customization to meet the needs of participating agencies.
If you are an HMIS user or interested in learning more about HMIS, please visit the HMIS page on the CoC site.
