Each December, our community gathers to remember and honor neighbors who experienced homelessness and passed away during the year. At the 2025 Homeless Persons’ Memorial Service, we came together in reflection, grief, and collective care to honor 135 lives, as well as those unnamed and known only to their maker.

Each name spoken, each candle lit, and each moment of silence affirmed a simple truth at the heart of CHIP’s mission: every life is valued, every person is worthy of dignity, and no one is forgotten.

As we remember those we have lost, we recommit ourselves to the work ahead — to advocate for permanent housing solutions, to show up for our neighbors with compassion, and to continue working together to end homelessness in Indianapolis.

Details for the next Homeless Persons’ Memorial Service will be shared as planning begins in the fall 2026.

A Special Thanks…

We are deeply grateful to the families, friends, volunteers, candleholders, faith leaders, musicians, speakers, and community partners who held space for remembrance and hope. This sacred gathering was made possible through shared care and collaboration, and we extend special thanks to Bovaconti Coffee, Roberts Park United Methodist Church, and Christ Church Cathedral for their generosity, hospitality, and partnership. We also extend our deepest gratitude to the  Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra Players’ Association volunteer string quartet who donated their time, talents and grace during the service.
