What We Do

Homelessness Ends Here

CHIP Mission

CHIP partners with the Indianapolis community to advance a shared vision to end homelessness by inspiring collective action and advocating for permanent housing solutions.

CHIP Vision

We envision an Indianapolis where everyone has a safe, stable, and affordable home and is embraced by compassionate care and an inclusive community.

Our Programs & Initiatives

Data Hub

CHIP serves as the data lead for Indianapolis. We operate, manage, and administer the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) and provide support, training, and technical assistance to our network of partners. We also provide data to support local planning, measure progress, and report to funders and governmental agencies. CHIP has a team of data administrators, ambassadors, and analysts to ensure high-quality data drives our collective work.

Coordinated Entry Lead

CHIP serves as the coordinated entry lead for the Indianapolis CoC. Coordinated entry provides a centralized process for assessing housing needs and vulnerability. This helps our community refer people to the housing and service interventions that best meet their needs and prioritize resources so that they reach those who are most vulnerable in our community.

Project Management

CHIP serves as the CoC lead for Indianapolis and has a dedicated team of project managers who support the CoC governance and implementation infrastructure to drive our shared strategies and goals forward. This team facilitates workgroups, encourages coordination, supports open and continuous communication, and advances our community planning efforts.

Street Reach Indy

Street Reach Indy provides financial assistance to individuals experiencing homelessness to overcome barriers to permanent housing. Street Reach Indy is a community fund that homeless service providers can access on behalf of their clients to directly assist individuals living on the streets and in shelters of Indianapolis.

The Handbook Of Help

The Handbook of Help is a resource guide available to individuals in Indianapolis who may be homeless or at risk of homelessness. CHIP partners with the IndyBar Foundation to verify and update the guide annually. Each year, CHIP distributes thousands of printed copies in the community and hosts the Handbook of Help online.

Note: Orders of printed Handbooks of Help are currently paused until winter 2024. In the meantime, you can access the virtual copies below.

Homeless Persons’ Memorial Service

CHIP organizes the annual Homeless Persons’ Memorial Service every year on the winter solstice. This community gathering provides space to come together to name, remember, and mourn those who were experiencing homelessness who passed away in our community.
